Have you always wanted to try (or retry) yoga?Devoted to meeting the needs of new students, as well as returning students interested in strengthening the foundation of an existing yoga practice. We’ll also discuss and try out modifications to use if you want to attend all-levels classes.
Designed for adults of any age to relieve stress and achieve a sense of overall well-being. Students will practice yoga postures, breathing awareness, and meditation techniques in a relaxed pace. Teachers will offer variations on each pose and use props throughout class to ensure that poses are accessible for all students. Students of all levels are welcome, including those who are new to yoga.

Though the tenor and structure of the class is instructor dependent, each class is geared to leave every level of practitioner feeling both energized, and soothed, prepared to take on everything and anything your weekday presents.

75 min slow-flow, floor-based, whole-body sensory experience based on Fluid Yoga sequencing. By engaging all five of the senses with soft candlelight, soothing music, aromatherapy, lots of hands-on assists and a renewed awareness of taste (and sometimes chocolate!), SPA aligns practitioners with the inner wisdom of deep relaxation.
During SPA, you may discover extra hands on assists and massages, a calming candlelit room atmosphere, delightful scents and beautiful music in the background.
Yang to Ying
Our yang-to-yin yoga focuses on mindfulness and paying attention to the body as we move through the 75-minute sequence. We begin with a vigorous vinyasa practice to warm up and strengthen the body as we build and maintain both our flexibility and balance. Next we transition to yin yoga, in which the poses are done on the floor and held for a few minutes at a time in a relaxed position, in order to provide a gentle stretch to the myofascial groups of the body, improving the health of the tissues and the flow of chi. Students are encouraged to make the practice their own with variations given to allow students to to individualize the practice during class. This intermediate-focused class is open to all levels and beginners.
A slow-paced, meditative yoga practice that targets the fascia and connective tissues of the body by holding postures long periods of time, typically 3 to 10 minutes, with the muscles relaxed. In this yin workshop, Isaac will introduce the yin practice to Yoga NoMa. Topics will include (1) how to safely practice yin yoga; (2) the basics of yin yoga anatomy and skeletal variation; and (3) the interplay between yin yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Prepare your body for childbirth, both physically and emotionally. In this workshop we'll focus on poses that not only build strength and stability in the hips and low back, but that guide the body toward a receptive state of softening and opening. We'll practice breathing techniques to prepare for labor, and poses that build up the stamina and the mental flexibility needed for motherhood. The workshop will conclude with a supportive savasana. It's suitable for women in all trimesters, and is an excellent way to meet fellow mothers. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
baby & momma dance class
Looking for a dance class where you can bring your baby? LilaDance! at Yoga NoMa is perfect for new moms looking to get in a little workout and reconnect with their body, post-pregnancy. While bringing awareness to her pelvic floor, her womb, and her heart this low-impact class is also a groovin’ way for mamas to practice moving through life with baby. No dance experience necessary just a fun and open attitude to connect with other mamas. Classes are best for mamas who carry their baby in slings, and front/back body wraps, or carriers.
Join Jamie Yost for an all levels vinyasa flow class taught in American Sign Language. This class will incorporate basic yoga poses into challenging and fun sequences, with an emphasis on alignment and the breath. Jamie helps students build strength and flexibility through an all levels flow appropriate for those new to yoga, or looking to deepen their practice. Please note that although voice-interpretation is not provided, all are welcome!
